A B O U T
Vladyslav Detiuchenko is an artist, dancer and teacher from Ukraine with a deep passion for dance. He graduated from the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts and wholeheartedly dedicates himself to these forms of art.
From 2017 to 2022, he worked as a principal dancer at Kyiv Modern Ballet. Detiuchenko has over seven years of experience in choreography and directing, a decade of experience in the dance field, and three years of experience as the artistic director of n’Era in Ukraine.
On February 24, 2022, Vladyslav’s life changed dramatically when the Russian Federation launched a deliberate and sustained aggression against Ukraine. This event profoundly impacted his views on the significance and role of art in the world. Vladyslav believes that art is a powerful force that can alter people’s opinions and emotions. He asserts that those who wield this force should use it to make the world a better place.
Forced to leave his home due to the war, Vladyslav Detiuchenko, together with his partner Veronika Rakitina, relocated to the Netherlands, where they became dancers with the United Ukrainian Ballet, a company created to support Ukrainian refugee dancers. The foundation became both a significant support system and a career springboard for Vladyslav and Veronika.
Later, they began a close collaboration with one of the Netherlands’ leading production houses, Korzo, which provided them opportunities to connect with the Dutch dance community and develop their own projects, including the charity initiative Light in Darkness, dedicated to supporting Ukraine.
They have collaborated with former prima ballerina of the Dutch National Ballet, Igone de Jongh. Vladyslav has created several dance pieces for her, which were showcased at the Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam.
Vladyslav’s work spans a diverse range of platforms, including choreography for Eurovision 2023, the Nederlands Dansdagen Festival, Cadance Fest, and more. Beyond the stage, he expresses his artistry through multiple disciplines, including film and photography. His films have been presented in Ukraine, the Netherlands, the USA, Croatia, and France. Notably, his film Rhythms of Resilience received recognition at Dance Camera West (Los Angeles) as Best Documentary, and at the Inspired Dance Film Festival as Best Documentary and Best Film. Vladyslav has also collaborated with renowned Dutch photographers Casper Faassen and Rahi Rezvani.
From 2023 to 2025, he taught at the De Dutch Don’t Dance Division Summer Intensive Program, Codarts Lyceum, In2It Fest, Sibenik Dance Fest, and others.
Over time, driven by a shared artistic vision and a mutual sense of beauty, Vladyslav and Veronika formed a dance duo. In 2024, they developed the dance piece "Stand by Me," which premiered at the international platform for young choreographers, Noverre, at The Stuttgart Ballet, and later had its world premiere at Korzo Theatre in The Hague.
Together with Veronika Rakitina, Vladyslav was nominated for the Piket Art Prizes (Piket Kunstprijzen) for their significant contribution to the cultural life of The Hague.
In 2025, Vladyslav and Veronika founded Stichting n’Era (n’Era Foundation), whose main mission is to support Ukrainian culture and contemporary dance. That same year, they become the winners of Holland’s Got Talent 2025.
V I S I O N
I use the art of choreography as a powerful tool of communication, capable of evoking emotions and encouraging the audience to look beneath the surface. In my work, I explore themes of freedom and identity, delving into the depths of human existence in both its outward manifestations and inner world.
The life experience I gained during the war in Ukraine has profoundly influenced my creative signature and emotional depth, which I infuse into my new works. I believe that art should inspire, provoke change, and evoke emotions. By telling my stories through the body, I hope to reach the hearts of the audience and reveal the themes that need to be explored.
I find inspiration in real stories, people, films, and the surrounding environment. Much in this world stimulates me to create movement and composition. In collaboration, openness, trust, and a willingness to take risks in pursuit of genuine artistry are especially important to me.
